Getting Rid of Border Around Google Results 1 Year ago Karma: 0
I have successfully installed and currently using the googleSearch CSE component but the results on my search results page have borders around them.

I have never seen this before on any of my websites, so I'm hoping it is due to the component. Has anyone experienced this before and have a way to remedy it?

I don't see any criteria in the component that is related to a border.

Here is a link to my results page Surf Links

I found the remedy. I was using a Google partner-pub-id of a test Search engine I had in my Google Custom Search account. When I used my old trusted pub-id it fixed the issue.

So my fix was to go to my Google Custom Search account and find a good partner-pub-id.

Thanks.

See it working now...Surfing Links

The border is irritating isn't it...
My problem is the 'partner-pub' ID, when I remove this first part of the ID from my component my searches fail, I have to have it in for the search to work.
Instructions tell us to remove the partner-pub text from the component though, have you removed it?
This 'partner-pub' text is involved with the box round the ads as well, confusing.

Send a link to the problem page so I can check it out.

Yes, you do need your partner-pub id to make CSE work.

Have you gone into your Google CSE account and removed the borders by formatting of your results?

Mike, I just edited the ads in adsense for search and there is no box now in my settings, yet the box is still there...
John

If you visit my site here: http://www.paintingsandprints2.co.uk/
and look just on the left for the search box, type in anything and do a search you get the results page.
My problem is that in the Joomla component settings I have to put the full partner-pub- ID in to work, if I remove the text, partner-pub-, just leaving the alpha-numeric characters, the search results don't appear.
Now in the instructions for installing the component it says 'you must remover the text, partner-pub-', enter just the alpha-numeric characters that follow it..

Now I wondered if it's this that's making the box display problem that looks awful.
I'm confused, how to set-up the component to work properly, with the text or without it..
Do you have the text included in your component configuration Mike?
Hope this makes sense, sorry...
Take care,
John.
