I think I'm missing something ... 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I'm using your 1.5 plug-in on a 1.5.20 site. I am using the {googleAds} code at the end of this story: http://www.yourarlington.com/school-news/3073-silvestri-july2210

I have followed your tutorial (http://www.kksou.com/php-gtk2/Joomla/googleAds-plugin.php#editor),
but no Google ad shows up.

I have tried to include the code in the post, but I get "forbidden access."

Can you help? Thanks.

Hi Bob,

Did a view source of your page. The javascript script code to display the google ads seems ok to me.

So the only thing I can think of is:
1) Depending on the setup you've chosen for your ad_slots, it might be possible that google did not find any ads suitable for your page, and return nothing at that postition.

2) I found 3 google ads on your page (2 in the artcle and one at bottom right). Not sure if there are any others that I missed. Please take note that google allows at most 3 google ads in one page.

3) I would suggest that you create another page with only one googleads using the googleads plugin. This will allow you to see if the plugin works at all on your site.

4) Just to be sure, you might want to double-check if the google_ad_slot number is correct. Your code shows google_ad_slot = "1234567891". The number "1234567891" seems like a test number to be, as oppose to the number generated by google. Why don't you replace it with the one you used for the other googlde ads: google_ad_slot = "8592007672"; and see if it works.

Regards,

Thanks very much for your detailed response to my questions.

Re No. 2, I have just one Good ad slot activated on the site.

No. 3: I created a separate test page just with the Google ad code. Nothing showed.

No. 4: I switched out the ad slot number, and that didn't change the result.

I am using the 1.5 plug-in in a 1.5.20 Joomla site. Looks like this plug-in doesn't work on my site. Are there any other plug-ins with which yours conflicts?

Hi Bob,

Can you give me the URL of your test page (your No.3 above).

Let me do a view source and see if I can figure out anything.

To have a control page that we can compare against, would you mind create a copy of the test page, but with the google ads code manually inserted into the article (e.g. I usually do it directly at the mysql backend)

The control page will allow us to see if google will supply an ad for that article content.

I've sent the test page URL privately.

The control page is http://www.yourarlington.com/school-news/3073-silvestri-july2210

The code is manually inserted there.
