submit action not writing before moving on 1 Year ago Karma: 0
I want to use several articles to get information and process it in parts.

I use
<form name="form2" method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" >
as my form action, with it I can input data and put this into a table (thanks to kksou), it then returns to the same article which is fine, but I want to put information in and then move to another "hidden" article,

I have created a menu item without a module assignment so I cannot see it as a menu choice, if I change my form action to
<form name="form2" method="post" action="<index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=11" > it moves to the new article but it did not write to the table.

If it makes it clearer this is what I am trying to do.
To gather the information I want to use.

1. article1 (get some info)
2. article2 (get info)
3. article2 (get more of the same)
4. article2 (more of the same)
5. article3 (if all the info given is correct write out to table)

I want to use a temporary table for 1-4 then in 5. insert 3 records into the real table.
I am also struggling to create a temporary table.

hope this makes sense.

Hi,

Not too sure from your description at which point are you stuck - 1, 2 3, 4 or 5?

By the way, have you read this article How to display and process forms in a Joomla article using DirectPHP?

If you set the id to the respective article id for article 1, 2 and 3, you should be able to move from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 to 5 as you have desired.

Please give it a try one more time. Let me what you have tried and at which point you are stuck. If there's error, please let me know what are the error messages that you see on the screen.

Regards,
/kksou

Hi kksou,

I have not read the article, but I will now.
I thought I was rambling and not making too much sense so to cut it short. If I use
<form name="form2" method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" >
in my form it writes to the table and goes back to the same article, if I use
<form name="form2" method="post" action="<index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=11" >
it moves to the new article but does not write to the table.
hope this makes more sense.
Regards Clive

I have read and re-read the article but I still cannot see what I am doing wrong, the full text I am using is working if I stay on the same page but I do not understand why it does not save before moving to a new one.

Thanks

Clive
