Hello,
I would like to use direct php to integrate to My joomla sphinx search engine.
Do you think it is possible to do so ? Joomla search is laking relevancy sometimes and not fast enough when we have tons of data to handle.

No, I don't think DirectPHP is used for this purpose.
DirectPHP is used for embedding simple PHP scripts into an article.
For your case, you might want to look into changing the codes directly for your customized search engine.
