Looking for some pilot users for a new plugin that I've developed: the googleMaps plugin

This is a super light-weight plugin using only about 9K of codes. It's very useful if you need to display just a simple map showing the address of your company.

I developed this on a winxp machine. Just want to make sure that the plugin runs on other platforms such as linux, mac and vista.

I am using your new plugin which works great in Firefox, but I get errors in IE. http://briannielsengolf.dk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=102&Itemid=53

I either get an error message saying IE cannot open the page and will abort, or it does open but with the map only taking up a small part of the designated square for it.

I'm having the same problem as Nina. The extension works right in FireFox 3 but not in IE7. I get a small piece of the map in the upper left corner of the space and only a couple of the map controls. I'll be glad to send a screen-grab if it would help. Also, I do some Web programming (NetBeans, PHP, JavaScript, Java) so I'd be willing to try to help debug the extension if I can.

Thanks for highlighting the issues with IE.

Just do a google on "google maps problem in IE" and you'll know that it's a known issue with IE.

After several hours of testing and research, think I've found a solution to resolve this.

However, I'm going for meeting now. Will try to post the solution when I come back from meeting tonight, ok?

By the way, would you mind if I email the new version to both of you first? If the version works with both of you, then I'll release the new version for the rest of the users.

Hi Nina and Warren,

Have fixed them - both the googleMaps plugin and the googleDirections plugin.

Have tested them on IE6. Should work in IE7 and above too.

A couple of note:
- rendering of the Google Maps in IE6 seems to be relatively slower than that in other browsers. So please be a bit patient.

- In IE6 the map marker icons (the little red teardrops) were not rendering properly. Please refer to: http://beyondthispoint.blogspot.com/2007/07/google-maps-api-weirdness-in-ie6.html

Thanks for the update! Initial testing on my local system shows IE7 working just fine. The performance is a little slower the FF3 but not enough to be a problem on my site (a low volume local camera club).

Hi, great plugin.

The only problem for me was the size, because it was static. For dynamic pages it's best to use the size in percentage. For me, the best one is:

width=100% height=300%

I haven't found it documented anywhere, so I'm posting here. I hope someone will find it useful too :)

need some help getting maps to show up.

I followed the steps on the webpage and my maps aren't coming up. I did enter the API key into the plugin parameters, yet I don't see my map. I did download the latest version of the plugin and module. Please help.
