Operation Aborted error when user is logged in. 4 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi, I've been using your yahoo stock quote module for a while, and everything seemed great. Until I logged into my site on a computer using IE, and noticed as soon as I became logged in, my homepage would pop up an error saying
"Internet explorer cannot open the internet site "http://www.[mydomain].com/

Operation Aborted."

If I disable your addon, and login to my site, everything works just fine. but as soon as I enable it, and am logged in, accessing the page (my homepage in this case) which your module is published to, this error pops up and i get redirected to the "Internet explorer cannot display this webpage" page. Have you ever heard of this problem before? Its only in IE, it works just fine with firefox. I have to unpublish the module for now, and am hoping to figure it out and get it back up and running! Thanks for your help!

Hi,

What's the url of the page so that I can test it on IE?

Also, which Joomla version are you using? on what platform? using which IE?

Regards,

Hi,

Got you PM. Thanks.

Since now your error only occurs when you log in as admin, it might be a conflict with the other plugin/module that you're using.

To really sort out the issue, I would suggest that you install a fresh install of Joomla somewhere on your server. Install the yahoo stock quote module first. See if it works properly. If it does, then install your other component/module (the one you're fixing) and see if that's the one causing the conflict.

It's not a perfect world. So sometimes you might have to choose between different plugins...

I too am experiencing this issue. My issue has nothing to do with logging on to the site. Just viewing the site (any page) will produce the error.
I installed the component/module about a week ago. I was very happy with the way it was performing. Until, I started getting e-mails from viewers using Internet Explorer 7, that the site is giving them errors. "Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site. "http://www.[mydomain].com/. It doesn't matter what page you are viewing, it will error. I did notice in the bottom of the browser window, that it was running through the stock refreshes even though I was viewing another page. So, I shut the module off, now, the site works with no errors. I would really really love to get this working with IE7, could you please help!!??

Hi,

I went to your site. But I do not see any stock quote.

Do you have a webpage where I see the actual error?

Hi,

I just tried with IE6. Looks ok to me.

I do not have access to any IE7. So I cannot try running your site using IE7.

Have you tried it lately. Is it a consistent error? Can you replicate this error every time?

By the way, I would recommend that you change the refresh rate to say 20 or 30 seconds, instead of the default 5 seconds. This is because you've so many rows of symbols to update.

Regards,
/kksou

Thanks for the tip on the refresh rate.
This error only occurs in IE7. It doesn't happen with IE6, or IE8, or any other browsers at all. It IS very consistent, and on all pages, not just the page with the Stock module. (when viewing the other pages, you can see in the bottom of the browser window, that it's loading the stock info). As soon as I shut off the stock module, the error does not happen at all. I tried different settings in IE7, with no luck. After a long while of troubleshooting, I discovered, in Joomla, in Yahoo Stock Quote's Module Paramaters, if I turned "show progress gif" to "NO", then the error does not happen. So, I am unable to have that enabled, just for IE7 reasons. Do you have any ideas as to why?
