Search in Web but using google parameter intitle: 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hello,

First of all congratulations for this work.

GoogleSearch component/module offers the ability to search the Web or a particular Site. I think that to look at a Site is done using the parameter "Site:mydomain.com" Google.

My question is:
Is posible change this component/module to the search on the Web is made using default parameter "intitle:mykeyword".

I do not need new fields on the form. Only by changing the code would be sufficient.

Best regards,
Fernando

Hi Fernando,

Before I make the change to the code, please be a bit more specific about your requirement.

1) You want this to be set in the config page. There will be one more parameter called "intitle only". When you check this, suppose the user enters the keywords "abc def ghi" in the search field, the search string sent to google will be transformed to "allintitle: abc def ghi".

Is this what you have in mind?

Hello,
Yes, more or less . . . .

The majority of users do not know about the use of "intitle:, site:, intext:, inurl:,.... in Google.
My idea is this:
I want to bring a service to users so they can find if your site is well register in Google.
Example:
A user lives in MADRID and want to know if your City Council (in spanish AYUNTAMIENTO DE) has its registered site in Google. The user in the search field only to be put MADRID. Therefore the code internally should put "intitle: AYUNTAMIENTO DE" to add the name entered by the user (MADRID).
In spain there are thousands of municipalities, but most of them are not registered properly on Google.

For me it is a bit difficult to explain in English.

Do you understand my idea?

Thank you,

Sorry,
You're right. Allintitle should use instead of intitle.
thanks

Hi Fernando,

It's done.

googleSearch v1.0.11/1.5.11

In the config page, there is now an option caled "Search Title Only". Set this to "Yes" and it will search in title only.

Try it and let me know if this is what you have in mind.
