I found this doesn't always work for the general case unless you explicitly call GtkTreeView::set_fixed_height_mode(false) for a GtkTreeStore-based view where only the child nodes have multiple lines.

Hi Jake, is it possible for you to email me some codes that show when it doesn't work? I've tried with GtkTreeView::set_fixed_height_mode(true) and GtkTreeView::set_fixed_height_mode(false) on windows platform. Doesn't seem to make any difference...
