Problem By default in a GtkTreeView, the interactive search will popup a built-in entry for the user to type the text to search.
Suppose you would like to use your self-defined GtkEntry for the interactive search as shown below.
Note that this also gives the solution to the post by Marion Desnault titled "how to make a normal GtkField become the interactive search field for a GtkTreeView" in March 2006. Back then, this was a difficult task. Now with the beta release of PHP-GTK2 (incorporating gtk+2.10), it's a relatively easy task.
Solution
- To use a standard GtkEntry as the search field for the interactive search, simply create a standard GtkEntry and use the method GtkTreeView::set_search_entry($entry).
Important Note: This only works for PHP-GTK2 compliled with gtk+ v2.10 and above. If you are using an older version, for linux, you may follow the step-by-step instructions to recompile php-gtk2 with gtk+ v2.10. For windows, please refer to How to install php gtk2 on windows?
