RSS Module 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hello,

I have enjoyed your last Joomla 1.5 Components like youtube, google serch and the wiki great stuff.

Have you thought about a RSS component and module

There is just no rss feed comp for Joomla 1.5 that is any good or works, the closet one is rss Factory 1.5 but its not IE freindly and is a resource hog on the server.

Yeah would be great if possible to gett a rss comp.

Once again thank you for great comp so far.

Yes I would be nice with some improvements for a cool RSS native MVC J 1.5 solution.

This "virtual newspaper concept" is nice but no development for long time... http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,4631/Itemid,35/ with some features from Slick RSS http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,1649/Itemid,35/

Well this is it for Joomla 1.5 practically..so there would be nice to have a kind of killer app for this with accordion drop downs and AJAX effects categorizing the content nicely!

This section navigator is nice for structuring the content http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,5854/Itemid,35/

Thats great info and a few rss that I hadnt come accross

RSS factory is pretty awsome but current version throws up IE aborted errors and prob a java or coding conflict with the rocket template Im using.

What I like as a feature list:

1. RSS feeds open up in a iframe on your own site like google vids
2. page navagation like previous page, back to categories etc (must have)
3. Module so you can display top 10 feeds etc anywhere on your site
4. backup and restore features
6. The above when a new version comes out you dont have to manaully reenter all the feeds
7. Use something besides javascript evem ajax as with Joomla there are so many ext using jave dumb browsers like IE throw up aborted messages.
8. Just a real neat look tabed or table display for rss feeds
9. Instead of reinventing the wheel use joomla 1.5 bits.
10. able to add adds

Not much really.

Agree!

Well if you could mix it with the "semantic" and rdf syndication It would be a killer app. :-)

Here is a nice new J component too "RDF Syndication component".
http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,5801/Itemid,35/

Joomla! RDF Syndication component is used for exposing RDF data from Joomla! content, user, section, category and integrating with other Joomla! sites,Semantic Web Engine, other RDF data sources using RDF format.

* Browse Joomla! content in factet browser

* Syndicate Joomla! content from mutiple Joomla! sites then render then in facet browser

* Search relevant posts of a Joomla! user (using his email as searching keyword) in a Semantic Web Search Engine (Sindice.com)

* Integrate user's personal information from remote RDF-based resources (FOAF file, vcard, html pages with microformat, etc) to user's profile through a web remixing server (Semantic Web Pipes).
