You have an old Joomla 1.0 Extension, and the author seems too busy to provide the native 1.5 version.
If the license is GPL, you can post your request in the forum . If it's not too tough, I'll try my best to do the conversion.
No promise that I can convert all. No guarantee that all the features will work. I'm doing this in my spare time, in the hope to contribute a little to this wonderful open-source Joomla community.

This is a live example that shows the embedding of a module in a category description using the plugin loadmodule for Section/Category Description.

If you go to, say, http://www.kksou.com/php-gtk2/sample-codes/, you can see that the slideshow on the left is a module appearing in one of the module positions on the left.

Here, you can see that the module has been embedded right inside this category description.
