Hi,
If you have problem getting the plugin "Drop Down Menu Apple style" to work with your template, feel free to post your questions here.
While I do not guarantee a solution here, I sincerely hope that some of you CSS experts could help to answer some of the questions and give some help and advice.
Just one note. For us to help, you have to help us help you.
1) Please state which version of Joomla are you using and on what platform? e.g. Joomla 1.5.7 on windows xp.
2) Please state what template are you using? And where can we download a copy of the template. Without a copy of the template, there is no way we can test the plugin with the template.
Note that if it's a commercial template, do not post the link here. Don't get you and us into trouble. Instead, please zip up the template folder and email to me. My email address can be easily found in extensions.joomla.org.
3) Please roughly tell us what you have tried and what are the problem or error observed.
Remember, the more you help us by giving us more clues, the better we can figure out what might be the problem, and the faster you can get a solution to your problem.
Regards,
/kksou

Hi Wieger,
The "Drop Down Menu" is a plugin. It's for use with when you want to add a menu within a content item or article.
For example, take a look again at the article where you download the plugin:
http://www.kksou.com/php-gtk2/Joomla/Drop-Down-Menu-Apple-style.php
Did you notice that the menu is embedded right inside the content item?
So to use the menu, you create a new content item, write some contents in there, and where you want to add the menu, you add those piece of codes to define the menu.

Hi kksou,
Thanks a lot, indeed I did exatly what you suggested and it worked. However not exactly what I was looking for. ( maybe usefull later)
What I wanted was to replace the top menu ( std Joomla menu) with a drop down menu i.e. similar to your web page. Is there a free joomla component / module available for this?
Thanks again for your speedy response.
Wieger

Issue is doesn't display properly with Firefox 2. Go to where you have the working example on YOUR site, using Firefox 2, and the drop down links disappear when you try to click on them. And they hide BEHIND any text that may be below it.

Hello kksou
I'm trying to get the DropDown_Menu_Apple_style to work. I am a Joomla novice and would appreciate a more detailed explanation of how, exactly and without omitting any steps, you get the menu to appear. I'm using Joomla 1.0.x, Vista and Xitami. What i've done so far (according to the Cookbook page guidelines):
1. downloaded and published the plugin using Installers - Mambots.
2. created a new Content Item and copied the example code of the drop down menu from the Cookbook page and saved.
Now i don't know what to do. Do i have to link the content item to a menu item for instance and then publish the menu item?
Thanks for any help you can supply.
Cheers,
Mark Weatherill.

Hi kksou
an update on my efforts to get the DropDownMenuAppleStyle to work.
I can now get it to appear; i did this by publishing it to the front page.
But i'm also getting the following error displayed:
Notice: Undefined property: Plugin_DropDownMenuApplestyle::$menu_height in C:\xitami-24\app\webpages\joomla1.0\mambots\content\DropDownMenuApplestyle\DropDownMenuApplestyle.lib.php on line 126
If this is something i can fix, how please do i do it?
Cheers,
Mark Weatherill.

Hi Mark,
I'll post an updated version within 24 hours that will fix this.
In the meantime, if you're in a hurry, you can just edit the file and delete or comment line 126.
The file is located in mambots/content
filename: DropDownMenuApplestyle.lib.php
line 126: $css = str_replace('{$menu_height}', $this->menu_height, $css);

/kksou
